Fundraise for us

Why does the Trail need your support?

The Coast Path quite literally exists on the edge. That is what makes it so special, so uplifting. It is on the edge of modern life, in some cases the edge of civilisation. It is the very edge of our island, connecting us intimately with the sea, but teetering on the brink of collapse.

Climate change is causing increasingly extreme weather to batter the coast, the growing number of feet on the Path each year causes erosion, essential infrastructure like bridges, way-markers and steps have finite life-spans and changing government agendas leave smaller and smaller budgets for nature. We need to act to protect the Path, and we need your help to do so.

How can you get involved?

Why should you support the Trail?

The South West Coast Path National Trail is about access. Access to and through the unique, internationally important coastal landscape that defines our peninsula. The Path gives access to some amazing natural spaces: over 70% of the Path is in either a National Park or designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Think about it. How would you experience the rugged cliffs, wild moorlands, turquoise coves and wide-open vistas of the ocean, if the Trail didn’t exist?

9 million people every year use the South West Coast Path to enhance their mental and physical well-being, but many don’t realise the hard work that goes into keeping the coastline accessible.

Most don’t know that there are teams of rangers, volunteers, fundraisers, project managers and outreach staff, to name a few, working invisibly in the background so we can all benefit from this amazing natural asset.

It costs approximately £1,400 per mile to care for the Path each year. Here are some ideas of what the money you raise could buy:

We want everyone to be able to reap the benefits of the South West Coast Path, now, and forever.

With your help through fundraising we can make this a reality - thank you so much!

Happy fundraising - get out and enjoy the Trail!
